Hej från Dorothée ! ça c'est du suédois :) 

My name is Dorothée Smaglo, I teach English at Lycée Aiguerande in France.

I am doing a 4-month French and English teaching assignment mobility activity at Danderyds gymnasium
thanks to the @erasmusplusprojects and to the DRAREIC and GIP from the Académie de Lyon.

This wouldn’t have been possible either without members of staff from Danderyds Gymnasium being sensible, not only to my personal and professional curiosity and intercultural sensitivity but also to the opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between our schools.

I ve already learnt a lot and noticed differences between our 2 educational systems :

- students don’t have schoolbags (they are heavy in France, and no computers allowed)
- there is no bell (does this explain why a few students arrive late in class ? not sure as French students are also late)
- school days are shorter (can be from 8h till 18h in our high schools)
- the English level is sooooo good (our students struggle with English…but you already know this)
- students call their teachers by their first names (we are so attached to our « madame » « monsieur »)
- the school canteen is free (it costs around 4€ in France and because of the inflation, quantities had to be reduced recently)
- students get money…I can already imagine my students’reactions when they know.

So far, the experience is AWESOME…challenging though as I need to face challenges I had never faced before. But I know I can rely on the great help of many members of staff from Danderyds gymnasium.

I can already feel things changing in me and the person who will return will probably not be the same.
